The game is obviously based in Ancient Egyptian history which is a plus for the fans of ancient civilisation city building games. The graphic designs are pretty ok taking into consideration that the game was released on 2008. On the downside now, no comparison to the classics "Pharaoh" and "Ceasar III". The game mechanics are very simple and not well-designed. Basically, the only resources you may have to worry about is food and bricks. No money system, everything is free, you only have to worry about feeding the population. The campaign missions are pretty standar, no diversity. You are basically asked to repeat pretty much the same gameplay over the missions. It has a very interesting society-population system with no immigration (your population is basically reproducing). The interface is very bad, zoom and rotate tools are bizarre and the game panel is very poor, making it difficult and uneasy to navigate. Some maps are also bugged (unable to travel across Nile, unable to import resources) and beside the feedback from the players, the company never made any effort to fix them.. Orginally thought this was 'Children of Denial', which was the new AAA FPS MMORPG that is supposed to be the most realistic modern war simulator today and featured gameplay starting when the character was 13, old enough to hold an AK.. .. but it's not.. this is a City-esque management game about ancient egypt.. and it's pretty darned good at doing that... I don't know if it's a direct sequel, or just inspirated by the old 'Pharoh' series, but it's very similar, and updated version of that. Gfx ♥♥♥♥♥s need not apply here though.. it was good for the year it came out, but not up to modern 2012 standards by far.. but City-mgmt games aren't usually about the graphics... :]. An Egyptian city builder that uses bread as currency.. Been playing CotN for 6 years. best strategy game ever
